This System offers an efficient means with which to collect and distribute rainwater; thereby reducing the large demand upon our utilities for potable water. The system uses standard eave guttering to transport rainwater from rooftop to storage reservoir. Debris is removed with gutter screens and a custom designed filtering system. Automated and manual valves divert the flow of water to various locations through the pump station. The electrical control panel automates and regulates pump and valve operations. Given annual rainfall of 50" per year, the impact of 4,000 homes with an average roof area of 2,000 SF, could net in excess of 200,000,000 gallons of collected water per year; effectively reducing the demand for potable water and lessening the need for runoff stormwater treatment, as well as curbing the potential of flooding and erosion. Lawn irrigation being the primary use, collected water can also assist in fire fighting efforts. Add a 50 micron filter and UV light chamber and the collected water becomes clean, affordable, potable water. |
